Welcome and thank you for visiting Whiskey Hill Log Homes, located in Summerville, Oregon. We love our log home and hope we can help you achieve your dream of a log home intended just for you!

We began our log home experience outside of Portland in an unfinished home which had been empty for many years. Despite the logs being painted pink (yes, really!) and the interior being filled with mismatched materials from the salvage yard, we were able to see the beauty that was underneath the ragged appearance. Over the years we renovated the house and it became the beautiful structure we knew was there all the time. At that point we knew we were hooked -- our next home would be log -- but definitely not pink!

After moving to Eastern Oregon we designed our dream house and began construction in 2006. We built the house ourselves, using contractors only for the plumbing, electrical, and roofing. The completed home was stunning, and despite the fact that this was intended to be our retirement home, a young couple convinced us to sell it to them and it became their dream home.

We knew that we would build another log house -- this one would definitely be our retirement home -- and began looking for a log home company to supply the package. This time we wanted a company that would provide assistance throughout the design, purchase, and construction processes. After investigating numerous manufacturers, we settled on Kuhns Bros. Log Homes as our supplier. Some of the factors which effected our decision were:
  • They are customer oriented from beginning to end. There are support personnel at the Kuhns Bros. headquarters who are available for questions and suggestions. Local represenatives are an active part of the process to help the customer make the best choices for their home.
  • Kiln dried logs were a necessity as we felt they provide the best log homes.
  • Kuhns Bros. provided an outstanding package while still allowing us to obtain some items locally. The quality of the package materials was outstanding.
  • Everything was explained in writing so we knew exactly what we were getting.
